# airportSide

*Command · Sides, Roads and Airports · Arma 3 v0.50 · introduced in Armed Assault v1.08*

## Description

Gets the side of an airport, set by [setAirportSide](../commands/setAirportSide.md). Default side is [sideUnknown](../commands/sideUnknown.md).

> [!NOTE]
> See [Arma: Airport IDs](../topics/Arma~3A_Airport_IDs.md) for a list of airport ids.

## Syntax

### Syntax 1

```sqf
airportSide id
```

**Parameters:**

- `id`: [Number](../topics/Number.md)

**Returns:** [Side](../topics/Side.md)

### Syntax 2

*since arma3 1.68*

```sqf
airportSide target
```

**Parameters:**

- `target`: [Object](../topics/Object.md)

**Returns:** [Side](../topics/Side.md)

## Examples

### Example 1

```sqf
private _airportSide = airportSide 0;
```

## Problems

When used on a non-existent airport id:

- negative numbers will always return [sideUnknown](../commands/sideUnknown.md)
- positive numbers may return [east](../commands/east.md), [west](../commands/west.md), [resistance](../commands/resistance.md), [sideEmpty](../commands/sideEmpty.md), [sideUnknown](../commands/sideUnknown.md), [sideAmbientLife](../commands/sideAmbientLife.md), or 'ERROR' (see [Notes](../commands/airportSide.md#notes)).
